Live Life Fathering Out of Love

1 John 3:1 - Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!

A father loves, commands, instructs, guides, encourages, warns, trains, rebukes, restrains, disciplines, chastens, nourishes, and delights in his children and their maturity. He is one deeply grieved by his own sin and inspired to change, so he is a good example to his children. He is considerate of his children's incisive needs and requests, as well as their burdens and sins. He is thoughtfully self-restrained, as not to provoke them to wrath, compassionate, and the last friend to his forsaken child. He will be remembered as a man of the Spirit, one who has instilled morality and character into others, like Abraham, the Father of Faith, and clearly different from the Devil, the Father of Lies. He leaves an inheritance not only for his children, but also for his grandchildren to better their adult lives after he is gone. He is one who holds the honor of counsel, service, care, and control, a celebrated and honored father among fathers. He wisely lives the words of Theodore Hesburgh, “The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother.” From Sermon #7001-19 – 6/15/14: “Live Life Fathering Out of Love” – Happy Father’s Day
