Live Life Transformed from Saul to Paul
Act 9:4 - Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?" Saul discovered that Jesus was actually alive! If Jesus was alive, then Saul had to change his mind about Jesus and His message. Saul also discovered that he was a lost sinner, who was in danger of the judgment of God. He had to repent now, no doubt a difficult thing for a self-righteous Pharisee to do. He thought all this time he had been serving God, when in reality he had been persecuting His Messiah. Even though Saul was an incredibly disciplined and learned man, he was spiritually blind, bankrupt, and did not understand what the Old Testament taught about the Messiah. Like many others he stumbled over the cross because he depended on his own righteousness. When measured by the holiness of Christ, Saul’s good works and legalistic self-righteousness looked like filthy rags. His entire value system and paradigm had shifted! He had to abandon his religion before he could gain a relationship with Christ. This raging bull that kicked against the steel sharp prodding stick of his master had now become a docile lamb needing help and direction. God was beginning the work of humility and preparing him for the ministry of grace! Sermon #4401-09 on 1/19/14: Acts 9:1-31 "Live Life Transformed from Saul to Paul"
